Welcome to Glen Waddell

Welcome to Glen Waddell

Glen Waddell, located in the hills 6 miles inland from Port Hawkesbury, is a 270-acre certified wood lot that has the North River on its western border, Ben Waddell on its northern border, the Gypsum Road (Barberton Rd) on its eastern border, an uninterrupted view of MacIntyre Lake, Inhabitants Bay, and the Atlantic Ocean on its southern exposure. (Map of Cape Breton Island) In the past, Nova Scotia Power gained right-of-way for its cross-Canada power lines to pass through Glen Waddell. At the time it was open forested land and they wanted to take power from Western Canada to the city of Sydney on Cape Breton's eastern coast. This set of power lines cut a swath through the northern part of Glen Waddell and provide our access road, clear of trees, and gave a place for the wild blueberries to sprout up and grow profusely. Over the past 50 years the 270-acre forest lot has witnessed some harvesting at time for pulp, to feed the worlds desire for paper. On December 16 we received our completed Forest Management Plan from Scott and Stewart ForestryConsultants Ltd. This plan lays out in detail our responsibilities for the management of a Nova Scotia Certified Forest Woodlot.
